She would often accompany her racer \/ husband Cenek Junek on his motoring exploits in their Bugatti Type 35. Her most famous race was the 1928 Targa Florio, which she led until the final lap before\u00a0succumbing to mechanical troubles.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1927 Bugatti Type 37A<\/strong>\u00a0(from the collection of Andrew Larson) driven by\u00a0<strong>Anne-Cecile Rose\u00a0Itier<\/strong> &#8211;\u00a0<em>From the late 1920s to the early 1950s, Anne-C\u00e9cile Itier was the most active female racing amateur in France. She participated in everything from Grand Prix racing to hill climbs and rallies. She entered Le Mans five times \u2013 a female record \u2013 and ran the Monte Carlo Rally seven times. Her peers were Hell\u00e9 Nice and Elizabeth Junek.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1927 Bugatti Type 35<\/strong>\u00a0(from the collection of William &#8220;Chip&#8221; Connor II) driven by <strong>Helle Nice\u00a0<\/strong><em>&#8211;\u00a0<\/em>A talented and beautiful race car driver, Nice was a true pioneer of the sport in her day. She owned and raced this Type 35\u00a0<em>in the early 1930s, competing at prestigious international circuits like Le Mans, Reims and Monza. Nice would develop a close association with the Bugatti marque, leading to her nickname,\u00a0\u201cThe Bugatti Queen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1955 Maserati 250F<\/strong>\u00a0(from the collection of Bill Pope) driven by <strong>Maria Teresa de Filippis<\/strong> &#8211; <em>The first women to have raced in Formula One. After her retirement, and as a sign of\u00a0tremendous respects,\u00a0she was awarded\u00a0the title of Honorary Chair of both the Maserati Club and the Formula One Grand Prix Drivers Club.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>1967\u00a0Ferrari<\/strong><strong>\u00a0NART Spyder &amp; 1960 OSCA Formula Junior<\/strong>\u00a0(from the Collection of Lawrence Auriana)\u00a0driven by <strong>Denise McCluggage<\/strong> &#8211; <em>A<\/em><em>utomotive journalist and race car driver, she is the first automotive journalist inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The following schedule will be utilized:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Saturday, January 14, 2017<br \/>\n\u2013 The Grand Ballroom at the Arizona Biltmore \u2013<br \/>\n<strong>10:00 am &#8211; Phoenix Automotive Press Association&#8217;s Auction Week Preview<\/strong><strong><br \/>\nNoon &#8211; Legends: Pioneer Women in Racing<br \/>\n2:00 pm &#8211; Driven: What Drives Successful Race Team Owners (also moderated by Lyn St. James)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For more information, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/arizonaconcours.us8.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=bf4dbb0246dbaa4b3594cd4d9&amp;id=c8d8b5e072&amp;e=f14eba53ab\">www.ArizonaConcours.com<\/a>.
