The Madison Avenue Sports Car Driving & Chowder Society Welcomes Lyn St. James

Don’t miss the May 11 (12 noon EST) Zoom Meeting of the Madison Avenue Sports Car Driving and Chowder Society as they congratulate Lyn St. James for being named the distinguished honoree at the upcoming Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance. They’ll also discuss her storied racing career, numerous leadership positions and broadcast roles, while also hearing from a few special guests.

Honored by Presidents Reagan, Bush and Clinton for her numerous accomplishments, Lyn St. James was recognized as one of the “Top 100 Women Athletes of the Century” by Sports Illustrated. Her racing career started with a Ford Pinto in 1973 and ended more than two decades later at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. In between, Lyn was named the 1992 Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year, held 21 international and national closed circuit speed records, notched two class wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona and another at the 12 Hours of Sebring, while also competing twice at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Under Director, McKeel Hagerty, once a month in the famous New York restaurant – Sardi’s on West 44th Street – there is a cheerful gathering of people with one main interest in common – sports cars and automotive competition.

As established by the founders, Art Peck and King Moore, the Club is based on three principles: 

1. 1. We have no known purpose.

   2. We have accomplished nothing.

   3. We ain’t mad at nobody.
